YAY!
YAY! I SOLD MY COUCH! NOW I HAVE TO DECIDE WHICH ONE I WANT....
SO HERE ARE MY OPTIONS...
OPTION #1. ( MY FAVORITE )
HERE WE HAVE THE BEAUTIFUL MAXWELL SOFA FROM RESTORATION HARDWARE. DONE IN A VINTAGE CHARCOAL VELVET. I JUST LOVE IT! THE ONLY THING IS THAT ITS $2400. YEAH A BIG DEAL. SO... I EITHER SAVE UP FOR THIS ONE. OR,
WE HAVE OPTION #2...
THE KIVIK SOFA FROM IKEA. I REALLY LIKE THE LOOK OF IT. AND ITS THE COLOR THAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR. AND THE PRICE IS WAY GREAT AT $500. BUT SEE THE PROBLEM IS I AM A STRONG BELIEVER THAT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR... BUT AT THE MOMENT $2400 JUST MAY NOT BE THE WISEST THING TO DO. BECAUSE IN THE BACK OF MY MIND I'M THINKING, "3 YEAR OLD BOY AND $2400 SOFA DON'T MIX SO GREAT". SO AS YOU CAN SEE I LOVE ASKING YALL WHAT YOU THINK. WHAT DO YALL THINK? SAVE AND BUY A SOFA THAT'S A 5 TO 8 YEAR INVESTMENT? OR. BUY A SOFA THAT'S A 2 TO 4 YEAR INVESTMENT?
OH AND THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT ON THE PIANO. I HAVE DECIDED TO PAINT IT. NOW I JUST HAVE TO CONVINCE MY SWEET HUBBY AND HIS FRIENDS TO HAUL THE DANG HEAVY PIECE FROM STORAGE... IT MAY BE A FEW MONTHS!
YALL HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY! IM HEADING TO ARLINGTON TO GET SOME INDUSTRIAL SHELVES FROM THE 70S!

The Ikea couch for sure! Even though I am a huge fan of Restoration Hardware, the Ikea one is great. You like the Ikea one and it allows you to get it now and if you are anything like me and like to change things up, you won't feel guilty if you want to change in a couple years. I have 4 little ones and several Ikea pieces and I have been impressed how well they have lasted.
I don't own any Ikea couches so I can't vouch for their quality but I know I would never buy the RH one. When you throw kids in the mix, nice furniture doesn't stay that way for too long! I'd go with the Ikea one. It looks awesome and you can't beat the price. Good luck deciding!
Definitely go with the Ikea one. I have an 18 mo and am so glad we didn't spend a small fortune on our furniture. The way I look at it is you won't always be freaking out when they're on it, if there's a spill you can continue breathing. Plus seriously at $500 if in a year it's getting raggedy you can get another one and you're still at less than half the price!
I vote for the Ikea couch. Esp since you've got a party in two weeks! ;)
You know, I bought the Ektorp couch and chair back in 2005 thinking it would be only a 2 to 4 year investment.... but they're still going strong! Granted, I don't have a 3 year old, but I do have a husband and 4 dogs!
I think the RH sofa would definitely be a better quality investment, but the Ikea one would definitely work for now. Plus, you could use that time to save up for the RH sofa.
