PHOTO ART
I AM VERY PICKY ABOUT WHAT HANGS ON MY WALLS FOR SOME REASON. I AM NOT REAL BIG ON A TON OF COLOR, AND ALSO FINDING ART THAT'S AFFORDABLE YET DIFFERENT THEN "WHAT EVERYBODY ELSE HAS", PRODUCES A MAJOR CHALLENGE. I WAS BROWSING THROUGH THE NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY DIGITAL GALLERY ( WOW THAT'S A MOUTH FULL )AND HAD AN IDEA. I SAW ALL THESE GREAT OLD PICTURES FROM THE 30S AND 40S OF EVERY DAY LIFE AND BUILDINGS THEN, AND I THOUGHT HOW COOL WOULD IT BE TO HAVE ALL DIFFERENT SIZES OF THESE HANGING ON THE WALLS, BUT DONE TO LOOK LIKE THEY WERE ON A CANVAS. IF YOU STUDY THEM LONG ENOUGH YOU CAN CATCH A GLIMPSE OF WHAT LIFE WAS LIKE JUST SEVENTY, EIGHTY YEARS AGO, AND EACH PICTURE SEEMS TO TELL A STORY. THE AWESOME THING IS, THAT ALL THE IMAGES AT THE N.Y.P.L.D.G. ARE FOR SALE. I CAN CHOOSE WHICHEVER ONES I WANT AND HAVE THEM PRINTED FROM SIZES 10" TO 30" AND HAVE THEM SHIPPED RIGHT TO MY DOOR. SO HERE ARE SOME OF THE ONES THAT I HAVE FOUND SO FAR THAT I LIKE. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK...
